Sakura Wood Slotted Spatula
Each one is shaped by hand at a single workshop, which means availability comes in small batches rather than a steady supply. We bring in as many as the workshop can produce, but they tend to go quickly.
If you’ve been considering one, now is a good time. Or join the waitlist and we’ll let you know when the next batch lands.
The Sakura Wood Slotted Spatula is designed for lifting food while allowing excess oil or cooking liquid to drain away. The carefully shaped slots make it especially useful for sautéing vegetables, turning pan-fried foods, or removing ingredients from the pan with ease.
Balanced and comfortable in the hand, the spatula slides smoothly under food while remaining gentle on cookware.
Crafted by Miyajima Kougei Seisakujo, a woodworking workshop founded in 1890 on Miyajima Island in Hiroshima, each piece is shaped from Japanese yamazakura (mountain cherry wood)—a hardwood valued for its strength, smooth grain, and the beautiful character it develops over time.
Designed for Lifting and Draining
The slotted design helps separate food from oil or cooking juices while lifting ingredients from the pan. This makes it ideal for fried eggs, sautéed vegetables, pan-fried fish, dumplings, and many other dishes.
The Character of Sakura Wood
Japanese yamazakura has a distinctive feel—smooth and gentle to the touch while remaining firm and resilient. Because the wood is finished without synthetic coatings, it gradually deepens in color and develops a richer tone through regular use.
Balanced for Everyday Cooking
The spatula is lightweight and comfortable in the hand, offering good control while lifting or turning food. The smooth wooden surface remains gentle on cookware while providing a quiet and pleasant cooking experience.
